I am 30.5 years old with 7+ years experience as Senior Software Support Engineer.I always had the desire to do MBA and for me it was scoring high on GMAT and it became evident to me now that it is only one part of the application. I am stuck in little dilemma thus was looking for certain help.
I have an average profile and no extra-curricular too.I accept this fact.My family is pushing me for my marriage and I wanted to try my luck for MBA but the thought process that even if I score above 700(GMAT)/330(GRE) won't be suffice, I am looking for information
1) My thought process is correct that with my current profile , I wont get a good college with a decent fees/good scholarship (I want to get the feeling that I deserve the college and same feeling should be college that I am a fit candidate)
2) What can I do to improve my profile as my official work does not demand leadership/managerial skills at this point of time although I am mentoring resources and suggesting process
improvements being a technical resource
MBA is not a thing to try. Since you are investing 2 years of time and a huge sum of money, you need to be sure that you really need an MBA.
Since, you have 7-8 yrs of work exp, you should have a clear idea of your post MBA goals too.
700 GMAT or 330 GRE is a good enough score to get a decent school.
Are you applying for 2018 intake or 2019 intake? You can improve your profile by getting involved in community development activities now. Do something outside your work. Even if you don't have direct leadership experience, leading even a small team or mentoring juniors also comes under leadership.
I you are looking to apply for Fall 2018, you should be done by your GMAT before December end. Full Time MBA becomes difficult for candidates older than 30 but its still possible
