I picked values to work with

price | quantity
was | 10 | 25
now | 13 | x

13*x = 250 * 1.3

x=25

Let price per kg is x
25kg was monthly consumption

so,Total expenditure = 25x

Now price becomes (30% up) = 1.3x
Let new Consumption be Ykgs
Total expenditure = Y * 1.3x

As per qn, new expenditure is 30% more than ever before

so Y * 1.3x = 25x * 1.3
=> Y = 25kg
Y is new consumption.
Hence Answer B.

Dunno if this is a trick or not but if prices increased by 30% and quantity is the same, expense also goes up by 30%.

Now if the expenditure is also to increase by 30%, I mean the quantity will remain the same?

Should be B

I thought the same thing without doing any calculation!
