Stat1: m < 2; we don't know the value of n, so not sufficient.
Stat2: n < 5; we don't know the value of m, so not sufficient.

Combining both, if m= 1 and n= 4 then, mn < 10. Sufficient.

So, I think C.

Since both m and n are positive integers, S1 means that m = 1. However we know nothing about n, so S1 is insufficient. S2 means that n could equal 1, 2, 3, or 4. However, we know nothing about m, so S2 is also insufficient. When we consider the two statements together, we find that all the possible values of mn are less than 10, so the two statements together are sufficient. The correct answer is (C).
