Hi everyone, I am applying to a joint JD/MBA program, and have fully submitted all elements of my application. I just heard back from the school I applied to, and they said they thought my application was great (good news!) but they'd really like to see an improvement in my GMAT score.

I have never been very good at math, and after a month or so of studying I earned a 570 (82nd percentile Verbal, 25th percentile Quant). I have the recommended Kaplan Math Workbook as well as the Manhattan GMAT Quant books (and have gone through them to varying degrees) but I really need to get my quant score up to secure an admission on my retake.

I've looked around the site, and forgive me if this post has been asked 1000 times before (there's just a ton of information on here and it can be quite a bit to take in). Does anyone have any recommendations for improving given that I already have gone through these books myself? I would really appreciate them!

Thanks.

Since you have already tried self study, you might want to consider private tutoring for Quant. You seem to be all set and your admission hinges on your Quant score now, so expert guidance would be suitable. An expert can figure out your weaknesses and explain you the fundamentals very well and that too in a short time. A full course might be unnecessary since you are comfortable with the Verbal section. Another option would be the On Demand format i.e. you have recorded videos available of all classes and you can pick the ones you want to watch and when you want to watch. It might suit your study style more than self study from books.

Hi I am in the same boat in terms of improving quant. I'm currently using Magoosh's videos to help and I did take a GMAT course which was great but I definitely needed more of the basics afterwards. Magoosh really does go through every step and lesson that you would need to know and I've definitely noticed an improvement. Having videos I think helps me understand the problems a lot better than just reading the answers.

Good luck with the improvement and admissions!
