The answer is A, because range of the set has to be equal or greater than difference between any two numbers in the set. As per (1), since difference between two numbers is > 5, so the range is also > 5.
(2) does not give information about the value of k and the other numbers apart from k, So insufficient.

as we distance between two numbers in the set >5, Range will always be >5
2. Not sufficient
we know dont know anything about the values of these numbers . so not enough to comment about range.
