\(\frac{39}{50}\) is between ?

A. 0 and \(\frac{22}{65}\)

B. \(\frac{25}{61}\) and \(\frac{26}{59}\)

C. \(\frac{28}{57}\) and \(\frac{31}{55}\)

D. \(\frac{35}{51}\) and \(\frac{41}{45}\)

E. \(\frac{43}{44}\) and 1

Required value = \(39/50 = (39 * 2)/(50 * 2) = 78/100 = 0.78\) i.e. 78%
Thus, value of 39/50 is almost 80% (only 2% less than 80%)

Let us look at the options:

A: 22/65: 80% of 65 > 80% of 60 = 48
So, 39/50 is not between 0 and 22/65 - Incorrect

B: 25/61: 80% of 61 > 80% of 60 = 48 >> 25 --- too far off - Incorrect

C: 28/57: 80% of 57 > 80% of 50 = 40 >> 28 --- too far off - Incorrect

D: 33/51: 80% of 51 < 80% of 50 = 40 > 33 => 39/50 is greater than 33/51
41/45: 80% of 45 = 36 < 41 => 39/50 is less than 41/45 ---- Hence, correct

E: 43/44: 80% of 44 > 80% of 40 = 32 << 43 => 39/50 is less than 43/44 - Incorrect

D. \(\frac{35}{51}\) and \(\frac{41}{45}\)

E. \(\frac{43}{44}\) and 1

Following the method of Approximation
39/50 = 0.78

So, the answer should give us the range for the question.
Checking with Option A) 0 and 22/65 = 0 to 0.33 (Thus this is not our answer)
Checking for option D) 35/51 and 41/45 = 0.68 to 0.91

Thus, option D is our answer

Hope it helps !

Option A:
    • 0 and 22/65 = less than 0.78
      o No

Option B:
    • 25/61 and 26/59
    • The value of both the fraction is close to 0.4
      o No

Option C:
    • 28/57 and 31/55
      o No

Option D:
    • 35/51≈ 0.7 and 41/45 ≈0.9

E. \(\frac{43}{44}\) and 1

The question becomes easier to solve if you multiply every thing by 2

viz: 39/50*2= 78/100

From the each answer choices multiply by 2 and the question seems easier.

Answer D by process of hit and trial.

E. \(\frac{43}{44}\) and 1

39/50 is a little less than 40/50 = 4/5 = 0.8.

Let’s work backwards through the answer choices.

Choice E: We know that 43/44 is nearly 1. So E is out.

Choice D: Since 35/51 is a little less than 35/50 = 7/10 = 0.7 and since 41/45 is a little more than 40/45 = 8/9, we can safely say that 39/50 is between 35/51 and 41/45. Choice D is correct.

can we just check for the number that come in between like: numerator 39 come in-between 35 and 45
denominator 50 between 51-45
looking at this criteria D seem best options
note: if we cant approach for the solution in this method, do let me know why?
