Pattern \(TST=3+2+3= 8\) where T-Toll S-Silence
The total activity at 9 AM;
\(9 T+8S=9*3+8*2=27+16=43\)
Since the number of 'S' is one less than the number of 'T' in the above pattern.

From the beginning of a toll to the beginning of the next toll, it takes 3 + 2 = 5 secs.
At 9:00, the bell will toll 9 times so it will take 9 * 5 = 45 secs
But note that after the 9th toll of 3 secs, there is no 2 sec interval because the bell does not toll after that. Hence beginning of first toll to end of last toll will last for only 45 - 2 = 43 secs
