there are several ways to solve this
method 1 ;
area of square - area of ∆ = .75*area of square
15^2-(1/2*2*(15-x)^2) = .75*15*15
solve for x = 7.5
IMO C
method 2 ;
use plugin technique and from given info
we see that area of two triangle region is area of square - (.75* area of square) = 56.25
which we get when x= 7.5 and solve for two ∆ ; i.e 1/2 * (7.5)^2 *2 ; 56.25
IMO C; is correct

Area of square\( = Side^2 = 15^2 = 225\)
Unshaded area = 25% of 225 \(= (1/4)*225 = 225/4\)
Unshaded area for a perfect square if two triangles are joined together with their hypotenuse
i.e. area of unshaded square \(= 225/4 = (15-x)^2\)
i.e. Side of unshaded square (Leg of triangle) \(= 15-x = √(225/4) = 15/2 = 7.5\)
i.e. \(x = 15-7.5 = 7.5\)
Answer: Option C
