Let, Total work unit = Multiple of 8 and 7 = 56 Units
A can finish working 56 units in 7 days i.e. One day work of A = 56/7 = 8 Units
B can finish working 56 units in 8 days i.e. One day work of B = 56/8 = 7 Units
Total Work done by A in 3 days = 8*3 = 24 units
Total Work done by B in 3 days = 7*3 = 21 units
i.e. Work done by boy = 56 - (24+21) = 11 units
I.e. Boy's contribution = [11/56]*$1400 = $275
Answer: Option C

\(\frac{1}{7}+\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{B} =\frac{1}{3}\) Solving for B, we get B =\(\frac{168}{11}\) Hence:
Boy alone can do the whole work in \(\frac{168}{11}\) days . So in 3 days boy does \(\frac{11}{168}*3 = \frac{11}{56}\) work . Hence boy will be paid\( \frac{11}{56}*1400 =275\)
