That could be understood as the first part it's already past. In this case it would be 2 hours from now. So I don't know if I agree with the correct answer. The wording “will it take to fill the pool completely” means total time from the start until the pool is full.
That’s why the solution counts Pump B’s first hour plus the 2 hours when both pumps work together, giving 3 hours in total.
If the problem wanted only the
time remaining from now, it would have been worded as “how much longer will it take” or “how much additional time is needed.” In that interpretation, yes, the answer would be 2 hours, but that is not what is being asked here.
