Hi everyone I want your help in evaluating my RC technique..
I am really doing bad at RC with around 60% accuracy and generally taking more time for comprehending.....
Would need your suggestions in improving the way i am doing now...
Here is technique is use currently..
Read the entire first paragraph.
And
Read the topic sentence of each subsequent paragraph. and Skim the other details looking for key words - names, dates, technical terms
Do the same for each subsequent paragraph.
This usually helps me getting the Main idea question correct but when i need to answer other questions like inference and specific detail questions then i have to read the passage again which takes a lot more time than it should be...

Looking for keywords is the critical part--words such as subsequently, though/although, moreover, however, therefore, etc..
These are signals to tell you where to really pay attention and focus - and where it's OK to skim/skip and still understand what's going on.
Yes, questions that ask for details will require more closer inspection of certain areas - but that does not mean you need to read the entire passage in detail. Get the general understanding, then focus on that particular part in order to answer the question - keeping in mind the general direction of the passage.
