I think answer will b A as it has the similar reasoning..............In question stem it says that as the painting is not accurate so you will also not copy that accurately(Actually this makes no sense as his painting has no power of how i reproduce the painting) which can be similarly seen in A that as George’s speech was filled with half-truths and misquotes. So the tape recording made of it cannot be of good sound quality.(Which also makes no sense)

IMO it should be C.

rosati painting not accurate----> therefore the painting originated from rosati will not be accurate.

child originated from mother----> so whatever is in the mother must also be in child.

Kostman’s original painting of Rosati was not a very accurate portrait. Therefore, your reproduction of Kostman’s painting of Rosati will not be a very accurate reproduction of the painting.

Which one of the following is most similar in its flawed reasoning to the flawed reasoning in the argument above?

(A) George’s speech was filled with half-truths and misquotes. So the tape recording made of it cannot be of good sound quality. -> different traits compared,that is,half truths and misquotes with sound quality .Hnce eliminate
(B) An artist who paints a picture of an ugly scene must necessarily paint an ugly picture, unless the picture is a distorted representation of the scene.-> this is the apt comparison since here we say if we
paint ugly scene then we must maintain that ugliness in the painting.
IMO (B)
(C) If a child’s eyes resemble her mother’s, then if the mother’s eyes are brown the child’s eyes also must be brown. -> its not logical in the given context since in the above argument we say repeating the mistake which is there earlier
(D) Jo imitated Layne. But Jo is different from Layne, so Jo could not have imitated Layne very well. -> eliminate
(E) Harold’s second novel is similar to his first. Therefore, his second must be enthralling, because his first novel won a prestigious literary prize. -> here they are said similar no comment about writing -> eliminate

LOGIC :A is not accurate.Therefore reproduction of A is not accurate.
Generalize: Ais not good. Reproduction of A is not good.

(A) George’s speech was filled with half-truths and misquotes. So the tape recording made of it cannot be of good sound quality.
speech is not accurate.Recording of speech is not good.
=>MATCHES

(B) An artist who paints a picture of an ugly scene must necessarily paint an ugly picture, unless the picture is a distorted representation of the scene.
if ugly scene then ugly picture else picture is distorted version of scene
if A then B else B = C
(SIGH! Its like writing CODE)
=>DOES NOT MATCH THE LOGIC

(C) If a child’s eyes resemble her mother’s, then if the mother’s eyes are brown the child’s eyes also must be brown.
- if A =B then if BE=Z , AE=Z
=>DOES NOT MATCH THE LOGIC

(D) Jo imitated Layne. But Jo is different from Layne, so Jo could not have imitated Layne very well.
- J!=L, Imitation is not well
=>DOES NOT MATCH THE LOGIC

(E) Harold’s second novel is similar to his first. Therefore, his second must be enthralling, because his first novel won a prestigious literary prize.
S =F. S =E because F=E
=>DOES NOT MATCH THE LOGIC
