If “I like to swim, run, and dance.” correct, why "ability of recognizing and spontaneously grasping" incorrect?

that dolphins have the ability of recognizing themselves in mirrors—an ability that is often considered as a sign of self-awareness—and spontaneously grasping

OG expl - "of recognizing and spontaneously grasping are not parallel" (OG12, page 95)

Does someone know the rule or something?

Nope, they are parallel, the problem in answer choice D is the unidiomatic. You cannot say the "ability of V-ing". The correct idiom is 'ability to do'. Also, choice D have problem with idiom, "consider as". The correct idiom is "consider X Y"

Other idioms:

"be able to do"
"be capable of doing"
"has the ability to do"
"has the capability of doing"
"be possible for ... to do"
"has the possibility of doing"
