In the merger with Mobil Corporation in 1999, Exxon added $120B of revenue, which doubled its revenue, and acquired 100K employees that made it the largest private corporation on the planet.

A. In the merger with Mobil Corporation in 1999, Exxon added $120B of revenue, which doubled its revenue, and acquired 100K employees that made it.INCORRECT-usage of which is not apt.
B. Merging with Mobil Corporation, Exxon, acquiring 100K employees in 1999 and adding $120B of revenue, doubled its revenue and made itself into.INCORRECT-made itself into is wrong, placement of modifiers is incorrect, distorted meaning.
C. Exxon, in its merger with Mobil Corporation in 1999, acquired 100K employees, adding $120B of revenue, and doubled its revenue, making it- INCORRECT- adding incorrectly modifies "acquired...."; the meaning is distorted with improper placement of the modifiers.
D. Acquiring 100K employees and adding $120B of revenue, Exxon doubled its revenue in 1999 and merged with Mobil Corporation in 1999, making itself-INCORRECT- tries to convey that by adding employees and revenue, Exxon doubled its revenue and merged with Mobil Corp. Distorted meaning.
E. In its merger with Mobil Corporation in 1999, Exxon added $120B of revenue, doubling its revenue and acquired 100K employees, making itself
-CORRECT

The sentence originally means that in the merger-
Exxon added $120B- this doubled the revenue
and
Exxon acquired 100k employees- this made it the largest private corp.

The only sentence that correctly conveys the meaning is E; doubling its revenue modifies the action of Exxon adding 120B and making itself the largest corp modifies acquired 100k employees.

In E, shouldn't there be a comma at the end of revenue to make the sentence correct. This leads to the belief that 'doubling its revenue and acquired' should be in parallel whereas added and acquired are in parallel.

Please help

Yes, you are right. Since the modifier "doubling its revenue" is a non-essential modifier, it must be separated by commas.
