I didn't take me a lot of time to solve this. I notice the singular noun virus and the commas. With that in mind we have nonessential information in the middle and easily eliminate some of the options:

The possibility to produce a generic antiviral is extremely low because a virus, depending on the host cell that it resides in and on the amount of moisture and acidic solvent, is able to produce enough mutations to negate the impact of any human injected medications.

Quote:
A. virus, depending on the host cell that it resides in and on the amount of moisture and acidic solvent, is able to produce
Depending is describing correctly what conditions could be. It refers correctly to virus. Finally we have a correct list of elements: a) the amount of moisture and b) acidic solvent.
I don't see any problems con (A), so let's keep it.

Quote:
B. virus, dependent on the host cell that it resides in, the amount of moisture, and acidic solvent, is able to produce
There are a lot of commas. It is not clear what is the nonessential information. If we remove the amount of moisture, then we have a completely wrong sentence.
Eliminate (B)

Quote:
C. virus depending on the host cell that it resides in and on the amount of moisture and acidic solvent, produces
A comma has disappeared after virus, changing the meaning of the sentence.
Eliminate (C)

Quote:
D. virus, dependent on the residing host cell and the amount of moisture and acidic solvent, to produce
It is 100% wrong. We don't have a verb for the sentence.
Eliminate (D)

Quote:
E. virus, depending on the host cell that it resides in, the amount of moisture, and acidic solvent, produces
Same reason as B. Eliminate (E)

Then (A) is the answer.
