I chose D.

Its the past perfect tense, "had migrated" so the verb must be in the past tense.

A-C are not so they are out.
E is wordy and awkward and "and then" indicates that "had Migrated" happened second which violates the past perfect tense.

My SC is pretty weak so if any of these points is wrong please let me know.

I proved my own point....

Less than 35 years after the release of African honeybees outside Sao Paulo, Brazil, their descendants, popularly known as killer bees, had migrated as far north as southern Texas.

A) Less than 35 years after the release of African honeybees outside Sao Paulo, Brazil,CORRECT

B) In less than 35 years since releasing African honeybees outside Sao Paulo, Brazil,INCORRECT. The descendants seem to be modified by the release implying the bizarre assumption that the descendants themselves released the honeybees

C) In less than the 35 years since African honeybees had been released outside Sao Paulo, Brazil,INCORRECT. less than the 35 yrs signifies that this occurred 35 yrs from the present

D) It took less than 35 years from the release of African honeybees outside Sao Paulo, Brazil, whenINCORRECT. when seems to signify that both events occurred simultaneously

E) It took less than the 35 years after the time that African honeybees were released outside Sao Paulo, Brazil, and then multiple problems as above

Hi guys,

Can you please explain me the difference between "since releasing" & "after the release" as used in A & B?

According to various sources OA is A.

But I prefer C none the less.
