Despite starting this thread, as a R1er that is now facing a deposit deadline I am actually in this situation. Currently, with no money from Kellogg or NYU, I know I would choose Kellogg. However, Consortium money from NYU could definitely change my mind.

At this point I know I don't want to risk losing Kellogg if I don't get any money from NYU. So I'm going to put the $2,500 deposit down. It's due February 28th. If NYU gives me a scholarship, then I now have something else to weigh: present value of $2,500 v. the future value of job opportunities and less loans. But if they don't, I know I'll be happy and very thankful that I took the risk and put the money down.

Angelfire, you don't have to worry. All your deposit deadlines should be after the "Consortium draft" is complete.

This is an interesting thread that I am bumping for this year. I was in the same situation. I decided to make a decision preemptively with Goizueta instead of forking over the money for Kenan-Flagler and Tepper, who were both requesting that I pay the deposit even though the Consortium decisions were coming in after it was due. Goizueta was always my top pick anyway of the three schools, although the others would have been nice to have additional opportunities for the schools to offer the Fellowship if Emory passes.

How are others handling this situation?

I'm waiting until all the cards are on the table. It worked out for me because I didn't have any schools in the Consortium that were requesting a deposit, and I applied to non-Consortium schools in the second round. All of my decisions & scholarship information should be coming in by the end of March.

I did have a small situation with the Evening program at Goizueta, for which I also requested to be considered. I was able to delay the deposit requirement until April, after the Consortium fellowship decisions are released.

Hi bumping this thread.

I'm just about to submit my R1 application for Consortium schools, but I am curious as to how the schools go about SIRs and deposits.

If admitted, will I need to give them admissions decisions by the R1 deadline or can I wait until I get the scholarship information that happens later in spring? I wouldn't want to put down a deposit only to find out that I might have gotten a scholarship from another school later on in the spring. I'm seeing different experiences here, so any insight would help!
