Hi GmatClubers,
I had a question about applying for the Kellogg JD-MBA Program. Just wondering if when applying for the combined JD-MBA, does it diminish my chance of getting into the MBA program? In other wards, is it possible that one doesn't get into the JD program, but still is able to get into the MBA program? Is there a different applicant pool you would be compared to?

It does appear there's a separate applicant pool for all full time MBA options - 2y, 1y, MMM, JD-MBA. Only in exceptional cases when they think you don't fit into the jd-mba but are a good fit for MBA would you be considered for an MBA. But I won't count on that. Further, I have a feeling the jd-mba class size may be a little flexible depending on the number of jd-mba applicants. It's speculation though. Hope it helps. Pm me if you want further details

In general, if Kellogg decides you're good enough for them, the law school will accept you too. The application process reflects this.
In fact, it's actually incredibly easy (based on anecdotal evidence) to go from just the MBA program to the JDMBA program after you've been accepted to Kellogg. You basically just ask for a spot. This may vary from year to year, (and in fact I can't guarantee it's still the case) but at least one 3J did this.
It does not work the other way around; if you're a JD and want to do an MBA, you have to do the full application.
