Validity of Online GMAT Score for IIM PGPX admissions next year.

Question

Hi everyone,

So i was going through the Eligibility of PGPX for IIM Ahmedabad and one weird thing caught my eye.
It is specifically mentioned that due to COVID 19 stuation they are accepting GMAT online score this year as a one time measure.
Doesn't this feels wrong? When GMAC has specifically mentioned that the Online GMAT score is valid for 5 years, isn't it wrong on part of IIMA not to accept the Online score from next year?

Also will other IIM's like IIMB and IIMC will follow the same criteria from next year? Kindly state your thoughts on this. Thank you.

Sorry for the Late reply. It seems i am not getting notifications of replies in my post. I am pasting the details from IIM A Eligibility post in their site and marked the required pari in bold. Following are the basic criteria for the PGPX Application: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any discipline. (Minimum 15 years of study as per the education system in India i.e. 10 + 2 + 3 or 4 as the case may be.) Minimum Age of 25 years as on 31st March of the year in which the PGPX programme commences. (E.g. For PGPX 21-22 commencing in April 2021, the candidate should have completed 25 years of age by March 31, 2021, i.e. must be born on or before March 31, 1996.) There is no upper age limit. A valid GMAT/GRE score (GMAT/GRE scores are valid for five years from the date to the application deadline date of the round in which candidate is applying. The earliest acceptable GMAT/GRE test date for the three rounds are - Round 1: September 1, 2015 Round 2: October 20, 2015 Round 3: January 5, 2016 For this year as an exception GMAT/GRE taken at home is also valid for PGPX. Minimum 4 years of full time work experience after completion of graduation as on March 31, 2021 To ensure that your scores are sent directly to IIMA, please select "Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad - One Year Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX)"as one of the five programmes to which the GMAT results have to be sent from the menu provided by GMAT before the start of the test.)

From the wording on the website, it sounds that way. You need to get it confirmed by the school itself. It is very weird that IIMA will consider GMAT Online only for this year

Can you reach out to the school and update us on what you hear back from them?

Hi, What is the latest update on this issue, is anyone got any confirmation from IIM’s regarding validity of GMAT online at home for the next intake.

As, I have appeared recently at home so planning for next intake using this score.

Dream2020 Did you happen to reach out to IIM-A about this and heard back? Shashank933 I guess IIM-A should be able to accept GMAT Online without the AWA. It would be pretty odd if they don't accept it. I suggest you also reach out to them and see if you can get a reply. Let us know if you hear anything

Hi Nikhil I have dropped an email to IIM A/B/C, regarding acceptability of online GMAT scores and got reply from IIM-A. They said that it is very difficult to comment on this at this juncture and requested me to wait till June’21.I am pretty much doubtful about GMAT online scores without AWA. Whether I should prepare again for Test Centre Version?

I have got great score in the online version and donot wish to loose that

If they themselves are not clear about accepting GMAT Online, what will the students do?

I guess you shouldn't worry about it and go ahead and plan for your applications. You can submit an online score and I don't think they will ask you to retake it at the test center. I don't see that happening.

IIM Ahemdabad has updated eligibility criteria for this year admissions :-

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any discipline. (Minimum 15 years of study as per the education system in India i.e. 10 + 2 + 3 or 4 as the case may be.)
 
Minimum Age of 25 years as on 31st March of the year in which the PGPX programme commences. (E.g. For PGPX 22-23 commencing in April 2022, the candidate should have completed 25 years of age by March 31, 2022, i.e. must be born on or before March 31, 1997.) There is no upper age limit.

A valid GMAT/GRE score (GMAT/GRE scores are valid for five years from the date to the application deadline date of the round in which candidate is applying. The earliest acceptable GMAT/GRE test date for the three rounds are - Round 1: August 24, 2016 Round 2: October 5, 2016 Round 3: December 7, 2016

For this year as an exception GMAT/GRE taken at home is also valid for PGPX.

Minimum 4 years of full time work experience after completion of graduation as on March 31, 2022

But anyway whomsoever has given GMAT Online like me are safe for this year admission.
