suppose B travels x miles in 30 mins. So A traveled (5+x+1)miles in 30 mins
Time=Distance/speed
[1][/2] = x/B so x= B/2...(1)

Similarly, 1/2=[x+6][/A] ...(2)

Solving 1&2, we get A=B+12...(3)

So only answer satisfying (3) is -> B=30 and A=42
How come A travelled 5+x+1 in 30 mins, because after 30 min only it was 1 mile ahead not till 30 min it should be 5+X miles. let me know where I am wrong.

Vt=d
Va=Vb+x
Vb=Vb

Vb*t=d
(Vb+x)t=d+6 -> Vbt+xt=d+6 -> d+xt=d+6 -> xt=6
If t = 30m = 0.5h, x=12

This means the difference in speed is 12 miles per hour.
Find the two values that fit this -> 30 & 42

Two cars are traveling in the same direction at constant speeds on a straight road. Initially, car A is 5 miles behind car B. After 30 minutes, car A is 1 mile in front of car B.

In the table below, select the values for the speeds of car A and car B that are consistent with the information above.

It took me only 20 seconds to answer.
I used the simple logic of relative speed.
6 km in 30 mins, which means A's speed is 12 km greater than B's.
By looking at the options, it is 42 and 30 respectively.
