Pretty straightforward and simple, you can just plug in values until you get the right answer.
You can also think of it as in fractions as well.
First think of it starting at 100/100, the original cost. An increase of 25/100 would mean the fraction goes to 125/100 or 5/4.
Take the reciprocal (4/5) in order to figure out which discount brings the selling price back to its original cost. 20/100 or 4/5 fits this perfectly.
Therefore, x = 25 and y = 20.
