Of the three phones we tested, the Chieftain has the fastest processor by far, as well as the best search interface. This makes it ideal for anyone planning to download and use a variety of applications. However, the baseline phone's memory will fill quickly; we do not recommend purchasing this phone without also purchasing an additional memory card.

Phone: Estrella: Price = 500 and critical rating = 3.9

Phone: Radical: Price = 250 and critical rating = 3.7 (Although price is lower than Chieftain still has a lower rating than that)

Hence it does not matter for critics.

Answer to question 3 is D.

The Phone with the smallest screen is Shieftain. It received an average critical rating of 4.3. See tab 1. The question provides the total number of ratings, which is 40. Hence sum of ratings is 4.3*40=172. To get a minimum of 4.5 rating this phone needs 16 more ratings of 5, which will equal 5*16=80. The previous sum is 172, the new sum will equal 80, and total sum will equal to 172+80=252 and the number of ratings will equal to 252/(40+16) = 4.5 average rating.

1. Algebraic approach
2. Arithmetic approach

I am not good at algebra (the fastest approach, I think), so I tested the answer choices, and we usually start from option B or D while testing answer choices.

Say, x be the no. of 5 star ratings required to improve its average critical rating to 4.5

This can be expressed as:
 \frac{172 + 5*x}{40 + x}  = 4.5
Solve for x ==> x = 16

For question 2 Statement 2:
The statement says rating is not 'influenced'. It does not say that rating is lower for expensive phones. So we need to see whether any correlation (+ve or -ve) exists between price and rating.
If we see Prices with and without contract it seems a positive correlation.
So I marked "Would not help"

Could you please help me where I went wrong?

in the 3rd subquestion of the 1st set the answer is yes because Radical has the highest review although in the description says that it's the heaviest, doesn't distinguish itself among others and generally seems to have more disadvantages in comparison to the other 2? chetan2u bb Bunuel KarishmaB

Hey, if you look closely, it's a simple weighted average problem.

Form an equation based on the data provided:

/ (40+x) = 4.5

Solving this, you get x=16.
