Two teams A and B comprising of 3 members each take part in a Math competition. The test consists of 6 problems and if any member of a team solves 3 problems correctly, then the member wins a gold medal. Did any member of Team A win a gold medal?
1. The total number of correct solutions by both the teams together is 25
2. The number of correct solutions by members of Team A is 7 more than that of Team B

I tried the problem in the following way:
Let team A consists of members as x,y,z
Let team B consists of members as p,q,r
statement 1- The total number of correct solutions by both the teams together is 25, as the total is 25 and the number of questions are 6, the worst case situation is that each member of team b solve all questions correctly, then team b points are 3 * 6 (number of questions), team a should have 7 points. taking possibilities of this situation
if x - 6, y- 1, and z -0
x- 5, y - 2, z -0
x - 4, y - 3, z- 0
x- 3 , y, -3, z -1 --> note that the numbers can be interchanged between x, y, and z and in either way, any member of team a solves 3 questions, therefor sufficient info.
Statement 2 -> it is just the second part of analysis of statement 1, therefore sufficient.

1. The total number of correct solutions by both the teams together is 25
The max correct answers of the 3 members answering 6 questions correctly = 6 * 3 =18
Then, we are left with 7 questions answered correctly by team A......Therefore, we are certain that there is a a member answered 3 questions correctly.
So, at lease one member answered 3 questions correctly.
If we decrease correct questions from team B so it means that it adds to team A to make up the 25 correct questions.

2. The number of correct solutions by members of Team A is 7 more than that of Team B
correct questions by Team A = 7 + correct questions by Team B
if B does not answer any question correctly....at we have 7 questions answered correctly by team A, making one member answered 3 questions correclty. It is same as statement 1.
Sufficient
Answer: D
