The base of the roof of a building has a pentagonal shape. The roof is constructed as a regular pyramid with a pentagon as its base. What is the total area of the lateral segments of the roof?
(1) The base of the pyramid has a perimeter of 30 meters.

A pyramid with regular polygon as base will always has equal triangles as lateral surfaces. We need to know the slanting height and length of edge to find area of single triangle

Hi, Why not A? Since it is a regular pyramid, won't each face be an equilateral triangle?

Hi Bunuel,
All the 5 triangles formed will have one angle=(360/5)=72 and the other two angles=(180-72)/2=54 each.the altitude of each triangle will bisect the base.So if we know the base=3 and the angles as 90,54,(72/2) can't we calculate the length of each side by trigonometry?If yes, then C should be the right answer.

Also, since the triangles are all equal , does that not mean that the slant height is equal to its base? and then use the below formula:
The surface area of a right pyramid can be calculated, using the following formula:
SA = B + 1/2( Ps ), where B is the area of the base, P is the perimeter of the base, and s is the slant height

Hi Bunuel
Could you please check.
By definition regular (pentagonal) pyramid is one with all equal edges. Also, It's impossible to have a regular pyramid with non-regular pentagon
Thus, either OA is incorrect or question is.
Bunuel please explain this with proper diagram. This is difficult to imagine.
