Is x an even integer? Assume n and p are integers.
(1) x = (n + p)^2
(2) x = 2n + 10p
(1) x = (n + p)^2
(2) x = 2n + 10p

If n=1 and p=2 then x= 9. Odd
n=2 p=2; x=16. Even.
n=0 p=0; x = 0. Even
Clearly insufficient
From st2 x is even for any values of n and p. This is applicable for negative and zero for n and p. Hence sufficient

(1) x = (n + p)^2
As even or odd nature of n & p is not known, hence n+p can be even or odd . hence Not sufficient
(2) x = 2n + 10p
x = 2(n+5p) , hence x is even.
Sufficient.
