Ziko wants to get from point x which lies on the edge of a circular pond directly across from point y, which also lies on the edge the pond. If Ziko can either swim across the pond from point x to y, or walk around the pond, should he walk or swim to get to his destination in the shortest time?
(1) Ziko walks twice as fast as he swims.
(2) The radius of the pond is 1 mile.

Length of semicircular path from x to y = πD/2 = 3.14D/2 = 1.57π
Length of Straight path from x to y = D
i.e. To reach through the circular path in same time as through straight path, Ziko's speed while walking must be 1.57 times that of the speed while swimming through straight path
Question : should he walk or swim to get to his destination in the shortest time?
Statement 1: Ziko walks twice as fast as he swims.
With this pace Ziko will reach before through semicircular path as his speed of walk is more than 1.57 tiimes speed of swimming
SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: The radius of the pond is 1 mile.

Length of semicircular path from x to y = πD = 3.14D --> Shouldn't it be 2πr/2=πr=3.14*r
Length of straight path from x to y = 2r
So min walk speed should be 3.14/2*r ~ 1.5 times faster that swim speed?
