What is the area of triangle ABC?
(1) Altitude AD on side BC is half of the length of BC.
(2) AB = AC = 10 units.

(1) Altitude AD on side BC is half of the length of BC. NS - say AD =x ; thus BC=2x Hence area=\((\frac{1}{2})*2x*x\)=\(x^2\) And we donot know value of x.
(2) AB = AC = 10 units. NS - we need either altitude or the third side.
(1+2) \(AD^2\) + \((BC/2)^2\) = \(x^2\) + \((2x/2)^2\) == \(x^2\) + \((2x/2)^2\) = \(10^2\)
or \(x^2\) = (1/2) * \(10^2\) ... Thus Suff... Ans C
