Today’s Yale “India Application Workshop” webinar had around 90 participants, almost all were Indian applicants and applying this year. With so many applicants from the same country, it seems extremely competitive to get selected. How does the school differentiate among applicants? Does it place significant emphasis on diversity, and do applicants essentially need to be exceptional across every aspect of their application to receive an interview?

Yale SOM asks applicants to write about the biggest commitment they have made.

The essay asks you to describe that commitment and explain why it matters to you. Yale is interested in understanding the behaviors that support your stated commitment, not simply what you claim to value.

The application also includes short-answer questions and a video component.
