Is x>y?
(1) \(\frac{x}{2}\)=y−3
x=2y-6
x and y can be any number(positive or negative) or fraction.
If y=1, x=-4, is x>y? NO
If y=-2, x=-10, is x>y? NO
If y=8, x=10, is x>y? YES
Different answers possible. INSUFFICIENT!
(2) y>6
If y>6, then x could be anything. Different answers possible. INSUFFICIENT!
(1) + (2)
x=2y-6 and y>6
If y=8, x=10, is x>y? YES
If y=\(\frac{21}{2}\), x=15, is x>y? YES
If y=100, x=194, is x>y? YES
Twice the y less 6 would make x ALWAYS greater.
SUFFICIENT!
If y>6(any positive number or fraction greater than 6), x would always be greater and positive. Therefore answer is option C.

A alone says nothing. For example for Y=4, X is 2(less than y) and for Y=8, X is 10(greater than y).
B alone says nothing as well.
Together they represent a set of points for which x>y
