so lenghts ; 8/13 * 65 ; 40 and 5*5 ; 25
sufficient

Question: The sum of the lengths of two pieces of rope is 65 feet. How long is the shorter piece?
Statement (1) The lengths of the pieces of rope are in the ratio 8 : 5.
i.e. 8a + 5a = 65
i.e. a = 5
Shorter piece = 5a = 25
SUFFICIENT
Statement (2) One piece of rope is 15 feet longer than the other piece.
One piece = a
Other piece = a+15
also, a+(a+15) = 65
i.e. a = 25
SUFFICIENT
ANswer: Option D
