What is the remainder when positive integer a is divided by 4 ?
(1) When a is divided by 2, the remainder is 1.
(2) a is 5 more than a multiple of 8.

possible dividends --> 3,5,7,9,..... odd no's
same no.'s when divided by 4 give different remainders 1,3..
Multiple Values, INSUFFICIENT
2) when 5+multiple of 8 is divided by 4 --> Possible dividends:
13,21,29
All give the same remainder --> 1
SINGLE-VALUE SUFFICIENT
Ans b)

1: not sufficient because a could be 1, 3, 5, 7 or any odd number, in this case, the remainder could be 1 or 3. So no certainty!
2: SUFFICIENT. When you add 5 to any multiple of 8, it's the same as adding 1 to any multiple of 4 bcos 5 gives you remainder 1 when divided by 4; and 8 is a multiple of 4
B is the answer
