I posted a similar thread on the GMAT forum, but more specifically on SC (I've been doing <50% on that section in my MGMAT CAT exams, with 85%+ on the CR and RC).

With CR and RC, the MGMAT book really helped me. For RC I've found that spending the time to jot down 2-3 notes/lines per paragraph helps frame my thoughts better. The "general purpose" or "intent" questions on the RC part were difficult for me before, but now after I do my mini paraphrase, I write a little statement at the end about what the passage tried to show. Generally, one of the answer choices will match up fairly well with that summary.

CR still sometimes confuses me, but trying to "see" the conclusions and assumptions breaks those questions down in a more analytical manner.

Hi, I am in a similar boat trying to move from mid v35 to V40's. but my problem is with Rc though. For SC, please read it again and again. I read the first 2 times, my SC did not improve much. For the third time, I read all the definitions in the back for all verbal terms and then read the chapters, it improved my SC. I score about 85% in SC now.

I think it's more about picking up the nuances and going with a flow than anything else. The key thing here is, if you choose your own method, that's fine. But you need to know the pros and cons and ins and outs of every question type. So I'd still suggest that you stick with one method - like Powerscore or Veritas Prep's CR and MGMAT SC and just go with that. It might be hard at the beginning but just consciously apply the method to each problem you do. Maintain an error log and see where you're going wrong.

I've posted a CR study guide of sorts (link in my signature). You can use that to have a check list of stuff that can be right or wrong for a given question type. Do the questions on the forum, keep an OG tracker and you can definitely improve your verbal. Don't lose hope.
