I would suggest going through "Doing Grammar" if you can not identify for what reason you are eliminating an answer choice in sc. Read through the info in this link -studyplan-for-verbal for improving verbal.

I have a general Q for the veterans based on his score of Q 47 which is certainly a good score , does the GMAT penalize more heavily on the Verbal side ?

Today I received my Official Score report and I received 5.0 in AWA. This made me feel little better that my written English is not really messed up. Does this increase my chances? Does B-Schools look at AWA Score while evaluating applications?

Regards

Though you've scored pretty decent in AWA, I really doubt if they are gonna place much importance on AWA over Q & V scores.

yeah, unforunately, AWA doesn't mean a whole lot. But if you do bad on it, then it does.

I think you should do a more focused review of the subjects and start with the basic Grammar. Once youre done with that, redo MGMAT SC and Powerscore CR. It's all about nailing the concepts and applying it properly. Don't time yourself initially. Get the concepts right, then work on pacing. Use an error log at this point too. Take a few practice tests and get yourself in the right mindset at the end.
