Hi Gmad2015,

I agree that this is an important post, so thank you for taking the time to document your experience. Have you taken the GMAT yet? I'm sure others would like to know more about how your accommodations were handled at the Testing Center.

Hi Rich,

I was scheduled to give GMAT in Aug but cancelled it since I applied for Accommodation.

I haven't yet decided as to what date I will be scheduling my appointment.

Thanks for your post!

I only found out about the disability aspect in late August from a cousin who has a similar disability to mine, and who did it under certain circumstances, but in 2012.

My application was received by GMAC on Sep 2nd, but still no response. I know they say 26-30 days, but if their mean time is 7-10 business days, it's starting to touch that limit. If I may ask, how soon did you receive your decision?

What would really tick me off is if they require supporting documents and then take 30 days to tell me that. I know one is supposed to start this well in advance, but like I said, I didn't even realize that I more than qualified for one such accommodation.

Thanks for sharing

Hi,

My Application was received on 28th Sept and I got a decision on 25th Oct.

If they need anymore supporting documents they will share sooner but Like I said their guideline is self explanatory.

Hi,

Since there are hardly any posts on GMAC accommodations ,I would like to share my experience on the same and try and help others who are out there.

GMAC does provide Testing accomodation to those out there who fall under the categories specified on the mba.com site.

You need to make sure your Doctor reads through the guidelines so that you meet the GMAC criteria.

If you are a valid case .I can vouch GMAC will do everything to provide you with relevant support.

I recently received accommodation by GMAC and Kudos to my doctor and specified guidelines by GMAC which helped me get accommodation in 25 days flat.

Some points to note.

1.You can only Fax/mail the accommodation. They are confidential medical documents and thus GMAC does not accept emailed/scanned copies.
2.After faxing the copies and the form,GMAC will revert with a receipt of acknowledgement within 2-3 days.
3.There no point or need to call GMAC for decision as the decision is emailed or a letter is mailed to you accordingly about the decision.
4.I sent my documents via fax.
5.After receiving accommodation decision you can activate accommodated setting on the GMAT prep by entering the accommodation code.

I largely recommend every one who is suffering from one of the ailments listed on mba.com webiste to try for GMAC Accomodation as it is indeed a boon for you.

Hi ,
I receiived an accommodation approval via e-mail (I asked to send it to me that way).

But there was no code for gmatprer. Could you advise where exactly it was locaed?

Thank you

Thanks for this. Won't help me, but is likely to help people I know.
Does the ESR or info sent to schools indicate that 'assistance' was provided?

The ESR is a very limited document that is anyway not made available to schools (it's for test takers). Score reports do not mention any accommodations taken.

Hello
I am a test taker that would require accommodations. However, due to the pandemic, the situation has really changed and I do not know if the process is the same as described above. Please help me out if anyone knows anything since it is so tough to reach the GMAC

Hi alishahba1,

The process to apply for (and receive) Testing accommodations can be rather lengthy (sometimes up to a couple of months), so you have to plan your schedule around that type of timeframe. You can learn more about that process here:

https://www.mba.com/exams/gmat/before-t ... sabilities

How long have you been studying for the GMAT? What study materials have you used so far? Have you taken any practice Tests yet (and if you have, then how did you score?)?

hello!

Thanks for your response. I finally received my accommodations. I was accommodated for 50% extra time and extended breaks. However, I do not exactly know what this means
extended breaks are for usually how long? and 50% extra time would mean exactly how much total time(in hours)? Please let me know if you have any information.
As far as my preparation is concerned, I have been studying for almost 1 month and a half now and plan to study for 3 more weeks. I am using the Magoosh Gmat course to prepare for my exam.I have not taken any practice exams just yet. However, I plan to take it in the coming days.

Hi alishahba1,

To start, you might want to start your own post-thread (instead of continuing to piggy-back on this one). We can also discuss your situation privately (via PM) if you would prefer.

When you receive 50% extra time on the Official GMAT, that's literally what will happen with each section of the Exam. For example, the standard version of the Quant section is 62 minutes, but you will receive an extra 31 minutes for that section (for a total of 93 minutes for the Quant section). Depending on how you take your Official GMAT, the 'break/breaks' might be handled in slightly different ways, but they too will be longer than the standard 8-minute breaks.
