Interviewed on Feb 03 2021 Full-time MBA
Interviewed with AdCom on 3rd of Feb 2021. It was a casual conversation via zoom. The experience was a bit different, I came prepared (did mock with 5-6 alumni and admitted students). The questions were:
- Tell me about yourself? I spent 35 minutes explaining myself. There was only 1 question because I did prepare using the GMAT club interview debrief. During the interview I spoke about: 1. My background, my family, etc (1 min) 2. Undergrad experience (brief 2-3 min) 3. Work experiences (include leadership experiences)
Before I was asked, I already told the answer to the typical questions "Why MBA, Why now, Why Darden" and give a brief explanation about my hobby and interest. Interview time: 40 min (including AdCom answering 2/3 of my questions)
Tips: 1. Use the STAR method in preparing for your interview 2. Do 3-4 mock with alumni and current students 3. Prepare for the list of questions that you might need to answer

Much in line with the other debriefs. I was asked to share my story in chronological order starting with school, then undergrad, then resume. How an MBA fits into the picture and why Darden. A few follow-up behavioural questions in between and finally, what else I do outside my professional life. Since it is a monologue more or less, I'd recommend taking pauses in between for them to ask any questions. They don't want to know every detail obviously, so pick the highlights of your story that really add to your candidacy's narrative.

I was interviewed by an adcom member. The interview layout is pretty simple and in line with the debriefs online. I was asked the following questions:
1) Tell me about yourself (went on for 10-15 mins) 2) Why MBA? Why at this point in time? 3) Why Darden?
Questions that were new to me but are the pretty standard behavioural questions
4) What have you done to have inclusion and diversity in your team? 5) How have you ensured a flat hierarchy within your team?
That's it. Overall the experience was pretty good. It was almost like having a conversation with a stranger.

Hello, I interviewed for a spot in the EMBA class, but I'm sure the Full-Time interview is similar.
The interview was super conversational, starting with asking where I was calling from and then moved into some small talk about the DC area (EMBA is in Rosslyn mostly). I was then asked to talk about my life story, starting from where I grew up all the way through undergrad (and grad school in my case), what I've been doing since graduating, and why an MBA/why Darden. The interviewer asked questions throughout the whole life story and it was really awesome - very much a conversation. It ended with what my hobbies are professionally and socially, which sparked more conversation, and then I asked some questions about the program that wasn't in youtube videos or on the website.

Super conversational chat with adcom.
1) Tell me about yourself 2) Why MBA/Why Now/Why Darden - expanded on how I appreciated Darden's emphasis on diversity so we discussed this for a bit. 3) ST/LT Goals 4) More detail on Case Method (I mentioned that although I enjoyed case method classes in undergrad, I'll be a bit nervous the first few weeks of school until getting into a rhythm.) 5) Questions for Adcom (I had fewer questions because I already spoke to this individual) 6) Hobbies
Overall, really good chat and an opportunity to expand on my application.

Hi all,
I interviewed for Darden Early Action with a 2nd year MBA student on 9-1-2020. Overall it was an amazing experience, I was a bit nervous going in but the second I started my walkthrough my nerves subsided. My experience was much like others I've read here, but I felt like I would share anyway.
The interview process was as follows:
1) Light introduction from my interviewer, explaining his role within the admissions process. 2) Asked me to walk through my life story (not just resume)... This probably took me around 8 minutes. TIP: When walking through something this long, make sure you take some pauses, allowing your interviewer to ask questions. If he/she doesn't ask, it would be beneficial to ask them around the halfway point if they've followed you so far and if you should clarify anything. 3)Several follow up questions about specific points of my story, my interviewer seemed very interested which was nice. 4)At what point in your career did you decide on an MBA, why? 5)Leadership questions - How do I lead, most important traits in a leader, etc. 6)Who am I outside of the workplace/classroom? Hobbies etc. 7)Why Darden?
I was then able to ask questions, which I had a couple of.
My interviewer was extremely engaged and seemed very interested in my career progression. The interview lasted about an hour, excited to see my response.
TIP: Darden's interview is a blind interview. The interview doesn't even have your resume, so you really need to paint a clear picture. HOWEVER, this year (I'm not sure about other years), my interview did have access to my "Learning team" short answer question which actually spawned a really good conversation, so make sure your answer is unique and describes you!
I think it went well, but we'll find out in October!

Had a 30 minutes blind interview with AdCom member. 1. Tell me about yourself 2. Tell me about your work reporting hierarchy 3. Tell me a time when you had to work with diverse people 4. Why MBA 5. ST & LT goals 6. How do you use your computer science undergrad skills in your current work set-up 7. What are the companies you aim to recruit for 8. Why Darden 9. Coming to a different country for MBA, what do you think are going to be the major challenges

Very conversational. The interviewer asked me to tell him about myself, we discussed my life story for about 40-45 minutes with probing questions and he finally asked "Why Darden?" Following that question I was walked back to the lobby, I think it went well and hope to get in.
Interviewed on Feb 10 2020 Full-time MBA
In line with the other interview outlines. It started out my story Some follow up questions of how I've worked in teams and my leadership style Relevance of an MBA Why Darden That was most of the interview. I had a couple of other questions and the interview wound up in around 35 mins. A little earlier than the 40 mins slot scheduled.

Q&A. Interview lasted for 45 Mins.

Hello there Darden seekers Or people who just want to get in. I was Interviewed by Marc Paulo Guzman, the diversity champion at Darden. I even remember the questions that I was asked but I'm unsure if I am allowed to tell. Anyhow, the questions were quite general. I didn't get much time to speak out an example in each case as the interview felt kind of rushed and ended in 28 mins. 20 mins of mine and then I asked a few questions. Remember, Darden is just a "public school" copy of Harvard so it's only obvious that they are looking for people with "Case Study Compatibility". Can't tell you a lot but every sentence I've written is carefully worded and if you pay close attention, you'll leverage every information I've provided. To Indians, I'd say, Keep your communication skills at peak, don't fumble, don't look like a scared man who just had a visit with Hitler's Ghost (Unless you like Hitler's Ghost, any regular Ghost would do too), smile (check interviewers reactions to your answers but don't change your expression) and be the best version of yourself, no detail is too less, and finally, Get a great GMAT score as almost all the Indian students I spoke to asked me to raise mine. I cannot raise it as I've finished the material, all of it, but if you have a chance to touch a 730, just get that, attempts do not count as long as under 4.
To other international applicants, I'd try to differentiate myself with a less cliche profile e.g. Indian IT engineer or a great academic and GMAT score. Apply in early action as it does give you a chance to interview, that way you get a chance to present yourself better. Unlike other B-School applications, Darden is non-Binding. However, there is a 1000 USD extra that you need to submit as a deposit but guys, it is totally worth it. Darden has the best learning experience as suggested by its consistent rankings. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of student events so this school doesn't get to shine. But when it comes to rankings, it is followed right by Berkeley and LA in Public rankings. Leverage this info and find out more when/if they are you, why us?
Why Darden is an important parameter before you apply to Darden. Know that you'll fit. The curriculum is very rigorous and they complete about 600 cases each year. That is a lot given that you've not been in touch with academics for say 2-3 or more years.
I prepared 6-7 stories but I couldn't get a chance to tell all of those. But hey, you can do that. I've seen people say that interviews lasted for 45 mins, that can be you. Maybe they didn't like me or maybe they made up their mind in 15 mins of talking to me.
Know the school, leverage every information by placing yourself in that scenario and think, 'will I fit', if you do, make sure you put that information up somewhere in the message during the interview.

I was interviewed by Adcom member in the Early Action round. It was a self Initiated interview.
It was a very conversational interview and along the lines of interview experiences shared by other gmatclub members here. So there was no surprise.
1) First she asked me to share my life experiences in 10-15 mins 2) After that tell me about a time when you worked in a team environment. 3) Why MBA? 4) Why Darden? 5) What do you do apart from work?
Finally, I was given the opportunity to ask a couple of questions. The interview lasted for 45 Mins and really enjoyed the interaction with adcom.
