IMO D

(A) It analyzes an undesirable result of undertaking the course of action that Tom recommends. - Mary's argument doesn't analyze an undesirable result.

(B) It argues that Tom has mistaken an unavoidable trend for an avoidable one. Incorrect

(C) It provides information that is inconsistent with an explicitly stated premise in Tom’s argument. Tom's argument is "students should have part time jobs, to acquire real life skills." Mary's argument is "There are not enough jobs for the students that are already looking for work." I don't see an inconsistent message here.

(D) It presents a consideration that undercuts an assumption on which Tom’s argument depends. Mary's argument presents that there aren't enough jobs, which undercuts Tom's argument. Correct

(E) It defends an alternative solution to the problem that Tom describes. Doesn't provide an alternative solution. Incorrect
