This is longest debrief I've read on the forums. Congrats! on your amazing score. Good luck with your applications.

Thank you for the wishes. Yea, overflowed a bit!

hey congrats.....! Thats a fantastic score. Cheers man, you did it.
Can you share some insights on how much different the verbal section in GMAT Question Pack 1 is from that of the real thing?

Verbal pack CR is pretty good and is a fair representation of what you will see on the GMAT. SC on the VP is also good - though, the hard level questions are not very hard. I mean, those are probably 700-20ish, definitely not 750ish. A few RCs are from the OG and verbal supplement - I knew the answers so did not attempt those. The rest of the RCs are pretty standard. A couple from hard-level are good.
My accuracy: I had 3-4 wrong (across levels) on SC. Poor mistakes.
CR: 1-2 wrong. Though I was not able to arrive at final answers for a few in hard level, I was always able to eliminate 3 and select the closest one.
I took it as a positive sign that I was able to arrive at the answer.
RC: did not attempt the complete set

Moreover, how did you manage the last two months before the exam?

I only had 2 months. All, I can say is study hard and put in the hours. I always tried to study in my free time at office and maintained a solid rhythm. Unfortunately, had to take a break for 10 days. Came back and began where I left off.
Did tests on Sundays and reviewed those on Mondays. (I did not want to waste a Saturday)
Wrote 6 MGMATs and 2 GMATpreps. You may repeat the GMAT Preps a couple of times. But as I said in my post, try to take advantage of the collection of official questions.

I am planning to take the exam by the end of first week of February, but have taken only one CAT. Regarding the GMAT Club tests, especially the quant one, worries me. Whats the difference between the levels of the original quant and the GC quants tests?

Its good for you that you have started early.
There is a significant difference. But they remain the best ones to practice from. If you don't get emotional about the scores and only plan to improve and learn - these are absolutely great. I definitely recommend them. Similarly the quant in MGMAT CATs is a notch higher. Also, strive to get a very solid accuracy on the Quant pack.

Do you have any more tips for RC?

not quite. You really need to observe the pattern.
a few obvious ones: always use POE; RC is one are where an option may be incorrect because of just 1 word. concentrate hard while reading the questions, last thing you want is a silly error; learn the usage of these words: critical, explains, describes, evidence, qualifies etc.
improve your vocab: out of 4 RCs (out of 10) I had failed on in my initial prep, I realized 3 were based on 'women emancipation'. Obviously I knew what was wrong; break the questions by - according to the passage/suggest-infer.
I'm pretty lazy and don't find taking notes of any help. I read the passage thoroughly: 2 mins for shorter ones, 3 for longer and then spend some 1-1.5 mins on each subsequent question.

Thanks in advance.

thank you and hope this helps.

The motivation:

I can’t lay more stress on this than I will in my next few sentences.
It is pretty simple. If you are not motivated enough to see yourself in the school you want, to get the score you want, you will never end up getting them. Period. It is critical that you stay focussed and work hard towards what you have set for yourself. I don’t believe in 1 week-760 debriefs. A 2 month-720 is much sweeter. Let me just write here what everyone knows - there are no miracles. And you definitely won’t see one on the GMAT.
I scored a 720 (Q51 V35) last December. It was tough for me mentally to get a score that was lower than what I expected and right on the cusp of a decent and a good score (my definition). I was never able to make up my mind whether to re-take the test. All, I knew was I was better than that.

What a post and score?..........Kudos ...kudos...n kudos...
Congrats n best of luck for applications

Awesome post bro! Hats off!

I just told myself that 750+ is my aim, but I'm so damn devastated after seeing a 540 on an MGMAT mock I took 3 hours back. I just starting my preparation and was planning to take the test three weeks later, but after seeing my mock test scores, I felt 3 weeks is too less.

Read your post. Felt motivated. Back to my 3 week plan.

Writing in just to thank you for the motivation. I could relate to it more since, I'm also the last minute guy when it comes to studies :)

Thanks. I think you should assess your position 9-12 days prior to the test and decide accordingly whether you need to postpone.

Thanks for help!
Supplement: the purple Verbal book that you get in the market. Search amazon and you will find it. (its called verbal supplement for the OG)
Pack: nearly 400 questions (both quant and verbal) worth $25. Available on GMAC website.

These can be searched on GMATCLUB. But I will not suggest those to you. They are not realistic. If you really want to prepare, then go for pack.
