I got an invitation to interview. I signed up for a campus visit on Feb 20th and received a confirmation email. Afterward. I realized that Feb 20th is a U.S. holiday. Does anyone know if Wharton would continue the regular campus visit program on that day (i.e.: including class visits, lunch with students, etc)? Thanks.

I signed up for Feb 20 school visit too, with my Wharton and Lauder interviews on that day as well. When communicating with the ad com, seems like classes are in session. I also checked the Wharton academic calendar, and Feb 20 appears to be a regular class day: https://spike.wharton.upenn.edu/mbaprogram/calendars/academic_calendar_full1112.cfm

Can a campus visit after getting interview invitation help? Can anyone explain how this works?

Thanks.

Good luck to everyone still waiting for invites this week!

Congrats to those who have already received them - please keep posting your stats and whether you are a dual degree applicant - really helpful!

I'm 2 hours south of Philadelphia and still waiting, as well. As for February 20th being a holiday, I wouldn't sweat it. The holiday, President's Day, is not widely celebrated and few places have off outside of the Federal government, post office, etc.

I am also curious about the same. How did the R1 go? I say it's reasonable to assume just two Thursdays, but you never know...

Don't get your hopes now but I just spoke with an international applicant who got his interview invite 15 min to deadline last year. Any news/ stories/ observations from anyone else?

If you're going to do a campus visit, I'd recommend doing your interview on campus and doing a tour and sit in on a class while you're here. Recommend Thursday cause then you can also go to pub afterwards. It might not "help" your interview directly, but if you get pumped up about the school while you're here, that enthusiasm will most likely come through in your interview. Good luck and feel free to pm if you have any questions.

For those that have invites, is anyone noticing a very slim selection of dates from which to choose?

For me, I can select any date this week or Monday or Tuesday of next week. This week is out because of work and I already have an interview on the 20th, which basically leaves Tuesday the 21st. I was hoping Wharton would add more dates but am starting to get a bit nervous. Worst comes to worst I could fly out on the 20th after my other interview, but doing so would prevent me from touring the campus, not to mention flights are running at about $600 right now, opposed to under $300 later in the week. Part of me is hoping they open up some more times with the next wave of invites, but I also don't want to be stuck if that doesn't happen. Would it be worthwhile calling the Admissions Office on this?

I would call. They're pretty accommodating if they can be, especially it you're traveling. Can't hurt in this case

Using beatthegmat stats to estimate:

R1: 84 invites of 301 applicants ~ 28%

R2: 54 invites SO FAR of 393 applicants ~ 13.7%

So probably 50% of invites are left based on my analysis, this makes sense considering we are about halfway through the interview invite period. I expect the statisticians out their to give me some grief about sample size, etc but at least we have a general idea.

Congrats to the first 50%!

So roughly what percentage of the domestic invites are yet to go out do you think? Cause we know that all/most internationals were in the first 50%.

Say the first 50% was half US and half International (a conservative guess I'd say).....that would mean approximately 66% of US invites still haven't gone out,...which would be great news of us American applicants.

Question is,..what is the proportion of International vs. US in the first 50%.

@ Mooze,

"All/most" - Really? Who told you that? I know it's good to be optimistic but is it okay to do so at the cost of others?

Do u know how many internationals (your future classmates) would have become nervous after reading ur post coz they would have been already anxious, having not got the invite till date!?!?!

I am confident that about 40-50% invites (at least) are left and when converted in sheer numbers, it translates to a whole lot! So keep the faith brother - And keep up the hopes of others also. I am sure there are many US as well as Int'ls who will get their interviews in the coming weeks.

Best of luck,
Sam

OK, let's just say since for Wharton a whole lot of invites are coming at the end - this "estimation" excercise might be fairly useless. Not that I wouldn't want to know. On another note, as i have previously mentioned, a current 1st year student (international) got his invite on the last day last year.

Can someone answer this please: How does Wharton inform you of the interview - is it an e-mail that says you have an interview or HBS-style e-mail that tells you need to check the changed status of your application on the website? Thank you.

Sorry man, I can see how my post was somewhat callous toward the emotions of the International folks,..didn't mean anything by it. I thought it was an accepted observation. Excuse me if i was mistaken.

Now now, gentlemen.

From what we know having seen the posts on GMATClub, we can't say that most/all international applications have been read. So there's no need to be pessimistic if you are international. However, from this small sample, we do know that VERY FEW domestic applicants have received invitations, meaning that no one should be sweating it just yet.

I think that's the best way to describe the cadence of R2 invites from the (albeit biased and small) sample that we have. And it allows domestic applicants to be optimistic without having to take it away from internationals.

Why exactly are you applying to B-School? Clearly you should be a lawyer!!

But seriously, I think you got to the crux of my intent more efficiently than I did. Which is that the majority of US invites have yet to be released.
