I am hesitating whether to attend the Welcome Event. The flight ticket is more than 500 euro.

I think it is definitely worth it. The Winter Welcome Weekend was a ton of fun (and informative), the Spring Welcome Weekend is usually more than 2x as big. It's also a great opportunity to find a good apartment, as opposed to doing everything over e-mail and not truly seeing what you got until you move in.

Also if you want to get into one of the higher demand places (e.g. 1500 Locust) can't hurt to throw your deposit down earlier, I'm sure the studios/cheaper apartments go early.
Thanks for the info. I've decided to attend.

I'll also can buy a MacBook which is 30% more expensive in Europe than in the US.

I don't know if I would buy a Mac, especially with how often you are going to use excel, I'm not sure if it is still like this but there used to be things/scripts you could only do in Windows (unless you run an emulator of course)

I would recommend an IPAD and then get a regular laptop, probably save you money to boot!

Thanks for your recommendation. But I need a Mac for app development.

After being rejected by 3 out of the 4 schools which I had applied to, I was ready to give up my MBA dream and start my own IT company, one of whose activities would be app development for iPhone/iPad. Actually, together with two partners, I already registered a company and set up a Linux server in the past week.

Now that I know I receive no fellowship from Wharton, I need to think of a way to get some steady income after I quit my job. So I will continue to implement the business plan before I hand over most of my work to the other business partners.

BTW, I will attend the Welcome Event. But the hotels are so expensive. Any idea how to be cheap? I was pondering whether I should rent a big car and sleep in it, or carry my tent with me

Ding. Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to people who are still on the waitlist. The ding effectively ends my application journey, so I'll just say a very heartfelt thanks to everyone for your advice and support over the past year. It's been great; it's almost pathetic how much I feel like we're friends.

I'm going to keep my hopes up for Booth, but it looks like CBS for me; go lions f*ck yeah!

Sorry to hear it...but CBS is an awesome school. Who knows, we may both end up at Booth too.

Bummer :( . I was really rooting for you (and Consulting2Finance). Hopefully Booth sees the light. But even if they don't CBS is pretty darn amazing, so you're beyond good to go. It's been fun going through this app season with you. I'd say let's do it again next year, but I never, ever want to go through this process again in my life and I'm sure you feel the same.

Yeah I'm very happy about that! I was just a little disappointed at the time of the decision! One pizza and Ice cream later, I was happy again :)

I've already booked the ticket. It cost me €546.12. $14 for the ESTA registration. At least €50 a night for the hotel :!: Jeez. I'm broke.

Still unsure if it's a better idea to sleep in my tent :?
