This is pretty historic....
Looking at the number of women and men who take the GMAT, in 2016 - 45% of the tests taken were by women while in 2020, that number has gone up to 47% so it has grown to almost a 50% parameter.
However, I dug in more into the GMAC's data to see the real representation of Men vs. Women in terms of applications:
Male Applicants in 2019 - 2020: Tests taken:
93,425GMAT Scores Sent to MBA Programs:
135,050Female Applicants:Tests taken:
79,653GMAT Scores Sent to MBA Programs:
69,617There are twice as many Males applying to BSchools as Females! That means purely mathematically and statistically, chances are 2x for women. The reason is that while women took 47% of the GMAT tests, they sent half of those to non-MBA programs while men sent only 33% to non-MBA programs. It seems to be that the 50/50 ratio is not representative of the intent or competition. There is a clear picture of less intent and less competition among women. I am not sure if the % of incoming class should be based on the population averages or the intent 🤷♂️
