Hi Arvind,

Thanks for the reply. Below are my responses to the questions posed:

1. No promotions on paper but moved from 1 role to another but 2 job hops
2. In my IIMK MBA I got 2.6 gpa from 4.33. also is my mba from here going to add any value for my admission in European/german college? Or only my undergrad which is BBA from modest college will be considered?
3. My pref after MBA is mostly towards marketing/data analyst/product management/ strategy side of the business.

nitinsinghiimk - thanks for the updates.

The IIM tag can help: it is recognized in most countries, particularly if you highlight in the essays about the analytical rigor, selectivity ratio/ process and business exposure you gained: factors which B-schools value. The GPA seems a bit low though.

Aiming for a GMAT score 10-20 points above your target school's average can help, but keep in mind that applications are evaluated well-rounded and holistically. Addressing "why second MBA, and why now" would be important in your case. Would suggest introspecting to identify the specific skill-sets (beyond the geography shift) and how an MBA can help you gather those.

Also think more specifically about the kind of roles you want to transition to, as the ones you mentioned are a bit broad. Speaking to alumni ideally in target roles can help here.

I refrain from recommending schools based on this initial review, as multiple factors (including your personal preferences) are to be considered.

Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Regards,
Arvind

Hi All,

I am Nitin. I have completed my bachelor's from a very humble college in India but went on to do MBA from IIM Kozhikode (FT global rank 77th 2023). Post which I have total of 4.5 yrs experience mostly in sales and strategy side in e-commerce industry.

Now I am interested bin my second MBA esp from Germany. As I look to make my career in European market, this seems the easy entry but I dont want to compromise on the study quality and college brand. Below are my profile details, pls rate my chances in getting into Mannheim or any top tier german/european college.

10th -93%
12th - 79%
BBA Grad- 72%
MBA - 2.6/4.3
Fortune 500 company Exp - 4.5 yrs in retail and e-commerce on operations and category side.

GMAT Target score - 650-720
IELTS -7+

Also suggest will my MBA from India that too from top tier college will help in my profile anyways in global MBA application?
Looking forward to all the expert and genuine suggestions.

nitinsinghiimk hope this finds you well.

In my opinion, IIM is a well-known brand internationally, and since I come from the E-Commerce operations industry, I have observed direct recruitment occurring in this field from India (to Berlin/Munich) through networks and alumni connections. I'm wondering if you have already explored and exhausted this avenue, which is why you are considering a second MBA from a German B-School.

Honestly, gaining admission to German B-Schools shouldn't be challenging for you, given your credentials. Schools won't view IIM K as the 77th-ranked global school but as one of the most prestigious B-Schools in India. However, I recommend aiming for a solid Quant score.
