What is the essay score out of 6 that is considered acceptable by all schools

Probably 4.5 is the min I would guess (though it is only 42nd percentile) that does not raise eye brows. 5.0 and above is nice and comfortable.

4.0 is only the 21st percentile, so that's pretty low.
6.0 is 87th percentile.

Hi BB,

Do you think 4.0 in AWA with lower verbal in GMAT for international student IS very serious ?

I mean weak verbal score definitely raises eye brows, but do you think a weak AWA worsens the situation ?

Thanks for letting me know this.

Have you used essay writing tool from mba.com. I am getting 4.0 in that. Is that closer to real GMAT evaluation? I am not able to figure out completely how to improve from that general feedback

Also, could you tell me few resources to improve AWA skills.

Refer to the AWA guide by chineseburned. It is very helpful and gives a good structure.

I cant put any urls due to the 5 day rule. But search for chineseburned on the forum and you will get it.

In the official gmat software for AWA I got 4.0

In the category of "Organizes a coherent presentation of ideas. "


Develops an adequately organized response; may use simple transitions to connect ideas.

Could someone explain a little more about this..and how can I improve this?
