I took the VC job. Its just too unique of an opportunity to pass up. (That I misheard the salary anyway, its actually substantially higher than I'd understood lol)

Congrats rhyme! Too many offers can do that to someone.
You still have 1 or 2 other ones you haven't heard from, right? Someone is gonna offer $2 pretty soon :)

No, I'm done. I've told the other firms I'm out. I'm ready to put recruiting behind me. I think I have a great chance to do something fun for the summer, something local, and something totally and completely new to me so I'm happy with my decision. Its a little scary because it means I'm almost certainly going to have to recruit in the fall without a safety net, but I basically came to school to try and change my job. This is the opportunity to change it completely -- not just change the industry -- not just change the function -- but both. I really don't want to look back 2 years from now and say 'what if?'.

congrats rhyme on breaking into VC! Just had a talk with a bunch of Haas alums and students and they were saying how VCs are a toughie. Of course, with your GSB credentials, it should be easier :wink:

Anyway, you'll have to be our consultant for VCs next year, hahahaha :P

I totally agree with kryzak. It will be nice to have someone on the boards to help those of us (me included) that are really interested in getting into VC. Maybe we can learn a few tricks from you :)

I was having a good laugh the other day with some people about how next year I'm bound to have to come up with a better story than "I got lucky" to the question I expect I'm going to get a lot "How do you get into VC?"

You should be excited! It should be a fun summer for you.

I talked with a few VC guys last night at a Haas alum event (500 attendees, alums and students). Sounds like bouncing between VC and Startups every few years is the way to get "street cred" in the VC world.
