15^2 = 9^2 + b^2
225 = 81 + b^2
b^2 = 225-81
b^2 = 144 ------> b= 12
area : 0.5 * 12*9 = 54 D

What is the area of the triangle above?

(A) 20
(B) 24
(C) 30
(D) 54
(E) 64

Attachment:

\(\sqrt{15^2 - 9^2} = a\)

\(\sqrt{144} = a\)

Or, \(a = 12\)

So, The area of the triangle is = \(\frac{1}{2}*9*12\)

Or, The area of the triangle is = \(9*6\)

Or, The area of the triangle is = \(54\)

Thus, answer must be (D) 54
