What is the combined area, in square inches, of the front and back of a rectangular sheet of paper measuring 8.5 inches by 11 inches?

A. 38
B. 44
C. 88
D. 176
E. 187

Area = (base)(height)
We want the combined area of BOTH sides (front and back)
So, the combined area = (8.5)(11) + (8.5)(11) = (17)(11) = 187

Answer: E

Brent

For combined area, area of 2 rectangular face is required.

Here
L×B = 11×8.5

So combined area is
= 2(11×8.5)
= 2×8.5×11
= 17 × 11
= 187.

Ans is E.

To find the combined area of the front and back of a rectangular sheet of paper, we need to multiply its length by its width.

Given that the paper measures 8.5 inches by 11 inches, we can multiply these values to find the total area.

8.5 inches * 11 inches = 93.5 square inches

However, since we want to find the combined area of both the front and back, we need to double this value:

2 * 93.5 square inches = 187 square inches

Therefore, the combined area of the front and back of the rectangular sheet of paper is 187 square inches, which corresponds to option E.
