Ofcourse you can do it by sum of positive integers formula n(n+1)/2
So first 51 odd integers = n^2=51^2=51*51
Sum of first 51 even integers = 2+4+6+..102=2(1+2+3..51)=2(51*52/2)=51*52 or n(n+1)
Difference = 51*52-(51*51)=51(52-51)=51
Logically 102 will have 51 odd and 51 even numbers and they can be made into 51 consecutive pair of integers where even is 1 more than odd..
(1,2); (3,4); ..(101,102)
Each pair gives a difference of 1, so 51 pair will give 51 as the difference

Positive odd integers less than 102: 1, 3, 5, 7, ... 99, 101 (51 numbers)
Positive even integers less than 102: 2, 4, 6, 8, ... 100 (50 numbers)
Note that every even integer is 1 more than the corresponding odd integer except the last number 102 is not a part of acceptable numbers because it is not less than 102. The 50 even numbers are 50 more than 50 odd numbers but the odd number sun has an extra 101 so the odd numbers sum will be 51 more than the even numbers sum.
