What is the perimeter of triangle ABC?

(1) The shortest side of the triangle is 5.
(2) The ratio of the measure of the angles in triangle ABC is 1:2:3

Statement 1: Shortest side is 5 but we don't don't other 2 sides. NOT sufficient.

Statement 2 : Ratio is given, not the exact value. NOT Sufficient.

Combining both Statements :

1x = 5

x = 5

2x = 10

3x = 15.

The perimeter = 5 + 10 + 15 = 30.

The best answer is C.

Hi selim,

In st2, 1:2:3<<-----The ratio of the three anglesof the triangle NOT SIDES.

You know, ratio of the angles is not same as ratio of the sides.(UNLESS its an equilateral triangle)

PLS TAKE CARE.

What is the perimeter of triangle ABC?

(1) The shortest side of the triangle is 5.
(2) The ratio of the measure of the angles in triangle ABC is 1:2:3

Question stem:- What is the perimeter of triangle ABC?
measure of three sides is required in order to determine perimeter of a triangle.

St1:- The shortest side of the triangle is 5.
Other two sides may take numerous measures.
So, perimeter of the triangle is not unique.
Insufficient.

St2:- The ratio of the measure of the angles in triangle ABC is 1:2:3
Or, ABC is a right angled triangle. (It could be 30-60-90 or 15-60-90 etc)
But we require length of sides.
Insufficient.
Combining, We have sides in the ratio \(x:2:\sqrt{3}x\), where 'x' is the length of shortest side.
So sides of the triangle are: 5,10, and \(5\sqrt{3}\)
So, perimeter can be determined.
Sufficient.
Ans.(C)

Hi PKN,

Can you please check the underline part. Is that correct?

Hi.
It was a typo...it will be always a 30-60-90 triangle.
Thank you.
