(2) $$m$$ = 10

we are looking for m - 3n.

Statement 1: $$\frac{m}{2}$$ - 8 = $$\frac{3n}{2}$$

$$\frac{m}{2}$$ - $$\frac{3n}{2}$$ = 8

$$\frac{m - 3n}{2}$$= 8

m - 3n = 16.

Sufficient.

Statement 2 : m = 10. clearly NOT sufficient. we don't know the value of n.

Solution

To find:
• The value of the expression m – 3n

Analysing Statement 1
As per the information given in statement 1, $$\frac{m}{2} – 8 = \frac{3n}{2}$$

We can write this expression as:
• $$\frac{m}{2} – 8 = \frac{3n}{2}$$
Or, $$\frac{m}{2} – \frac{3n}{2} = 8$$
Or, m – 3n = 8 x 2 = 16

Hence, statement 1 is sufficient to answer the question.

Analysing Statement 2
As per the information given in statement 2, m = 10.
• However, from this statement, we cannot infer any information about the value of n.

Hence, statement 2 is not sufficient to answer the question.

Hence, the correct answer is option A.

(2) $$m$$ = 10

from 1)

{m - 16}/ 2 - 3n/2 = 0

m-16-3n = 0

m-3n = 16

sufficient A
