I doubt this is a 700 question specially going by bunuel's standard! :grin:

stem - (x+y)(x-y)

1) (x-y)^2 = 0; so (x-y) = 0. so sufficient

2) if y < 0 then stem is (y+(-y)) (y-(-y)) = 0
if y >0 then stem is (y+y)(y-y) = 0 sufficient
