The answer is D.
We can solve this logically, without actually doing any calculations.
1) gives us two unique equations with two variables - definitely solvable! sufficient
2) once we subtract 2y from both sides, this is one equation with variable - definitely solvable! sufficient

What is the value of x?

(1) 3 + x + y = 14 and 2x + y = 15
(2) 3x + 2y = 12 + 2y

we are looking for the value of x.

Statement 1: 3 + x + y = 14 and 2x + y = 15

3 + x + y =14

x + y = 11

and we have 2x + y = 15

2x + y =15
x + y = 11
.............................
x = 4.

Sufficient.

Statement 2: 3x + 2y = 12 + 2y

3x + 2y = 12 + 2y

3x = 12 + 2y -2y

3x = 12

x = 4.

Sufficient .

The correct answer is D.

(2) 3x + 2y = 12 + 2y

#1:
solve the two given eqns

we would get x=4 and y=7

sufficient

#2:
solve for x we get x=4

sufficient
